Becoming our volunteer tutor
Volunteer tutors
Thank you for interested in volunteering for us. Our volunteer tutors play an important role in helping adult learners improve their reading skills, English skills, and GED skills.
We provide training, materials, and ongoing support for our tutors. After completing a workshop training, a tutor will be paired with a student. Our program director assesses each student's reading level and pairs the student with a tutor. The director provides the tutor with appropriate materials according to the student's needs. Tutors regularly meet with students for tutoring. Our training is 2 days long. The first day is usually on Friday from 6 pm to 9 pm. The second day is usually on Saturday from 9 am to 3 pm Lunch, snacks, and training will be provided. The training is usually be held at the Wood Tech building in Elkins. All participants will follow social distance and mask wearing. We're always in need of tutors. If you are interested or have questions, please contact us.
