What is literacy?
There are many ways people define literacy from just being able to read, to more complex definitions that include reading literacy, math literacy, media literacy, computer literacy, and social literacy.
Literacy means to have the basic skills like reading, math, understanding media such as commercials, computer games, ads, using a computer for finding information on a website, doing email, and creating documents and spreadsheets and using social media.
Reading literacy usually means reading, writing, listening and speaking skills.
We mostly work with students on reading literacy, but we also work on math, media and computer literacy as depending on student needs, interests, job requirements, and the location of tutoring resources.
